What is Perpetual Adoration?
Perpetual Adoration is a
Eucharistic devotion whereby members of a community unite in taking hours of
adoration before the Most Blessed Sacrament (in most cases, exposed), both
during the day and throughout the night, seven days a week. While in the
presence of the Lord, in the Adoration Chapel, Adorers are quietly praying,
meditating, listening, or reading.
Who may go?
Anyone and everyone, at any
time of any day. You do not need to be signed up.
Why do we have Perpetual
Adoration?
Many spiritual benefits and
graces can be attributed to the establishment of a parish Perpetual Adoration
program:
-
an
increase in Mass attendance and reception of the sacraments;
-
return
of fallen-away Catholics and increase in the number of conversions;
-
increase
in religious and priestly vocations;
-
renewal
of Catholic family life;
-
spiritual
level of the people is raised with a resulting desire and courage to spread the
"good news" to others; a greater community spirit, centered as it is
on the heart of the parish, Jesus' presence in the Blessed Sacrament.
When Can I Go?
Whenever you desire to go.
We have Adorers signed up at specific times so the Blessed Sacrament is never
left alone. But otherwise, anyone can go, at anytime. The Adoration Chapel is
open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
How Does It Help Me?
The graces of Adoration are
different for everyone. One may find a particular prayer(s) answered soon after
going, peace on a stressful day, understanding, a oneness with the Holy Spirit,
forgiveness, hope ...the list is unlimited.
Where is the Adoration
Chapel?
At St. Joseph Parish, the Adoration
Chapel is located just inside the front doors of the church to the right of the
vestibule.
What am I suppose to do
and/or say when I am there?
Your time with Jesus may be
spent praying, meditating, reading your own religious book or books provided in
the Chapel. You may just sit and enjoy the peace in being there. Prayer for
each of us can be unique. Talk to Jesus, listen to Jesus, and enjoy the time
spent in His Presence.
