Fall Programs Highlight Issues and Spirituality

August 31st's presentation by Jack Jezreel,
founder of JustFaith Ministries, on Transforming the Heart, was the perfect beginning to another year of great programming from both the Commission and the parishes in our area. So many are interested in programs for parishes by JustFaith Ministries. We are trying to connect interested people and help groups that plan to start a program.

The Micah Center, our peace and justice lending library situated within the commission offices, will have a special shelf of materials. We are ordering all the videos used in the 30 week program so parishes can borrow rather than purchase them. We will also have one set of all books so leaders can view the program.

In Summit County, St. Mary, Hudson, St. Hilary, and Tallmadge Christian Unity Church are centers of groups. The other counties have various options also.

In other parish news:

St. Sebastian - St. Vincent Social Concerns have scheduled their October film series.

Doors open at 5:00 p.m.  Light supper, movie at 5:30 p.m. followed by Dessert and Discussion of the film as it relates to Catholic Social Teaching, held in the St. Vincent Family Center, Scullen Room, 17 S. Maple St., Akron OH 44303.

St. Hilary to offer a Bridges Out of Poverty Workshop. It is being offeered on two different dates: Nov. 5 and Nov. 10. If you work with individuals from generational poverty, this workshop is mandatory. Explore poverty, its causes, the hidden rules of poverty, and its impact. This is not a program but an approach to working with those in poverty, a huge education opportunity and an initiative in Summit County.
